Rafael van der Vaart has slammed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s transfer policy. The
54-year-old has signed 21 players worth a combined £611million in two years in charge of United. The Dutchman
brought in four compatriots – Tyrell Malacia, Wout Weghorst, Joshua Zirkzee. And Matthijs de Ligt – in a deal worth a combined £98.7m.
He also snapped up five former Ajax players – Andre Onana, Noussair Mazrawi, Lisandro Martinez, Anthony and de Ligt – in a deal worth a reported £251.4m. Van der Vaart
is not a huge fan of the tactic as it puts extra pressure on Ten Hag when results don’t live up to expectations.
“Yes, it’s difficult. He’s been there for two or three years and has spent a lot of money on old players. “I don’t like it too much,” Van der Vaart told The ยูฟ่าเบท.
“He’s brought in a lot of Dutch players and people. I’m not a big fan of that because when you lose a few times in a row, the pressure is on and the results are not good. “
I watched the Liverpool game and of course it’s hard to take because it’s the biggest game, like a north London derby, and you lose it outright. “
He needs to win more games now and he will survive, but we’ll see.”
